SARONNO – In occasione del 170° anniversario dalla fondazione del Pime (Pontificio istituto missioni estere), ha avuto luogo questa mattina una messa alla prepositurale dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, all’evento hanno presenziato i missionari della società.
“Come mai oggi tanti missionari del Pime? il Pime 170 anni fa è nato qui a Saronno, e vogliamo quindi ricordare così quest’evento, evento rimandato di due anni a causa della pandemia, quindi siamo in realtà a 172 anni”, ha esordito così padre Ferruccio Brambillasca, Superiore Generale del Pime, che ha altresì dichiarato che la celebrazione sarebbe stata presieduta da Padre Joseph, un missionario clarettiano di origini indiane, figura che tra le sue mansioni ha anche quella di “avvocato” dei missionari del Pime, i quali si ritrovano molto spesso coinvolti in procedimenti giudiziari in paesi esteri di diversa cultura e religione.
Saronno rappresenta per il Pime una città simbolo, poiché la società nacque ufficialmente nel 1926 dall’unione dell’istituto per le missioni estere di Milano, sorto nel 1850 ad opera di Angelo Ramazzotti, e del pontificio seminario dei santi apostoli Pietro e Paolo di Roma, istituito nel 1871. L’istituto per le missioni estere di Milano aprì un seminario per la formazione dei missionari proprio a Saronno, esattamente il 31 luglio 1850.
Padre Ferruccio Brambillasca durante la sua introduzione all’evento, ha tenuto a ringraziare i fedeli, i volontari di Busto Arsizio e il prevosto di Saronno monsignor Claudio Galimberti.
