Urban myths su Sky: si parte da Agatha Christie

In 1926, Agatha Christie made the headlines and sparked a national manhunt when she went missing for 11 days. As proof that truth is stranger than fiction, the famous crime writers Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Dorothy L Sayers offered their services to the police investigation into the mysterious disappearance of the celebrated author.

MILANO – Arriva in prima visione assoluta e in esclusiva su Sky Arte la nuova stagione di Urban Myths, la straordinaria serie prodotta da Sky Arts Uk e firmata da Ben Palmer che prende spunto da tutte quelle leggendarie storie sulle quali non si è mai fatta chiarezza e che rendono ancora più mitici i grandi personaggi del Novecento. Ogni venerdì a partire dal 1 febbraio alle 21.15, “Urban Myths” andrà in onda su Sky Arte (canale 120, 400 di Sky) per proiettarci nel favoloso mondo in bilico tra verità e mito.

La prima puntata “La misteriosa scomparsa di Agatha Christie” è dedicata alla regina del giallo, quando nel 1926 fece perdere ogni traccia di sé per 11 interminabili giorni, tenendo la nazione intera con il fiato sospeso. L’episodio racconta la gigantesca caccia all’uomo che si scatenò, guidata dai più grandi scrittori del genere Sir Arthur Conan Doyle e Dorothy L. Sayers, rispettivamente gli ideatori di Sherlock Holmes e Lord Peter Wimsey. Un vero e proprio thriller, in cui i due protagonisti, ognuno con il proprio stile, si confrontano in una scintillante e competitiva collaborazione alla caccia di Agatha Christie.

La seconda puntata “Cary Grant, Timothy Leary e l’LSD” con Aidan Gillen (Trono di spade) racconta invece il visionario e surreale viaggio sotto l’effetto dell’LSD di Cary Grant e Timothy Leary, sul set di Alfred Hitchcock “Intrigo Internazionale” nel 1959.

Dalla misteriosa scomparsa della regina del giallo Agatha Christie, e il presunto viaggio allucinogeno che il divo di Hollywood Cary Grant avrebbe fatto insieme a Timothy Leary sul set del film di Alfred HItchcock “Intrigo Internazionale”. La serie prosegue nei prossimi episodi con il primo incontro tra le due star del glam rock inglese Marc Bolan e David Bowie, e la storia delle oltre 40 riprese girate da Billy Wilder con Marilyn Monroe per una singola scena di “A qualcuno piace caldo”. Dal gesto eroico di Muhammad Alì che convinse quel ragazzo sospeso nel vuoto a non buttarsi giù, al delirante incontro tra due personalità eccentriche come Alice Cooper e Salvador Dalì. E ancora, dalla meravigliosa leggenda che vorrebbe lo scrittore inglese Samuel Beckett accompagnare ogni giorno a scuola il dodicenne André The Giant, troppo alto per entrare nello scuolabus, fino alla disastrosa apparizione televisiva dei Sex Pistols al “Today Show” di Bill Grundy, in prima serata e in diretta senza censure, quando la band punk inglese sconvolse l’intera Inghilterra.

“Urban Myths” è un viaggio immaginario e divertito, sospeso tra fatti realmente accaduti, leggende metropolitane, retroscena reali o presunti. Storie che si sono conquistate un posto in prima fila nella narrazione del Novecento e nei racconti mitici dei suoi personaggi e che qui diventano lo spunto per queste piccole perle di commedia.
