Coronavirus blocca il campionato di hockey ghiaccio: i Mastini Varese si fermano ai quarti

VARESE – Lettera a tifosi e simpatizzanti da parte dei Mastini Varese: con l’emergenza coronavirus il campionato di hockey su ghiaccio si ferma qui.

Cari tifosi purtroppo cause di forza maggiore ci impediscono di giocare le semifinali e portare a termine una stagione incredibile. La Fisg ha diramato un comunicato che interrompe la Ihl e il campionato non proseguirà. Abbiamo recuperato l’entusiasmo di tanti tifosi e speriamo di ripartire proprio da questo aspetto. Ora chiediamo tempo per mitigare un po’ l’amarezza per un finale che non è quello sperato fin dalla scorsa estate. È arrivato il momento di comprendere le decisioni e adeguarsi, anche se costa sacrificio. Forza Mastini

Così la Fisg, Federazione italiana

Il presidente Andrea Gios, a nome della Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio, comunica la decisione assunta di concerto con le squadre di annullare, a partire da oggi, i playoff attualmente in corso dell’Italian hockey league. Non verranno dunque disputate le partite già inserite in calendario e la stagione sarà da considerarsi conclusa senza l’assegnazione del titolo tricolore. La scelta, arrivata dopo un costante confronto tra le parti e di comune accordo con tutte le società sportive coinvolte, recepisce i dettami e le indicazioni contenuti nei decreti ministeriali emessi nelle ultime 48 ore e, soprattutto, mira al contenimento della diffusione del virus Covid-19 ed alla tutela dell’intero movimento hockeistico nazionale.

La Fisg e le società hanno valutato, prima di arrivare a questa decisione, l’opportunità di una temporanea sospensione del campionato con relativo rinvio e recupero delle partite a data da destinarsi. Tuttavia, l’incertezza legata all’evoluzione e agli sviluppi del Coronavirus nelle prossime settimane, insieme all’impossibilità di mantenere a lungo aperti gli impianti e le piste di ghiaccio senza alcuna attività in programma, hanno suggerito di procedere con l’annullamento della competizione. A differenza della grande maggioranza delle altre discipline, l’hockey infatti, per il suo svolgimento, prevede il mantenimento costante e regolare di una pista di ghiaccio: riuscire a tenerle aperte e funzionanti ben oltre il calendario già in programma avrebbe richiesto un impegno eccessivamente oneroso per i gestori degli impianti e per le società, a maggior ragione se private dell’incasso derivante dalla vendita dei biglietti essendo costrette a giocare a “porte chiuse”.

“E’ una decisione sofferta ma necessaria – le parole del presidente Fisg Andrea Gios -. Ringrazio tutte le società, con le quali mi sono interfacciato costantemente in questi ultimi giorni, e in particolare il coordinatore del campionato Walter Andriolo. La scelta di annullare i playoff di Ihl non è stata facile. Tuttavia avevamo il dovere e la responsabilità di difendere e salvaguardare la salute pubblica e, al tempo stesso, la necessità di non minare gli equilibri finanziari delle società sportive. La coesione e l’unità di intenti messa in mostra dall’hockey italiano in questo momento di difficoltà mi porta a ritenere che vinceremo anche questa battaglia e che torneremo, insieme, a gioire e godere della bellezza di questo meraviglioso sport“.
